Hello there Miss Peplum

Glad to finally meet you. I know you've been a long time coming and you're still not perfect but you're pretty close.

Hope to see more of you soon.

Aussie Curves - Body Con

Any excuse to wear this skirt!

Living in the middle of nowhere, where a night out for dinner can include the BP petrol station or one of the pubs, means that I often don't get to wear my 'nice' stuff. That or I just decide to stuff it and over dress.

To celebrate the last day of school for the term and a friend's new job we went to the pub for dinner - I ordered a chicken kiev by the way.

So there I was, dressed up feeling pretty good about myself, when I got the stink eye by two women - you know that look - 'the I can't believe she's wearing that' look.

Anyway - I forgot to take photos of myself last night so I took my outfit shots this morning. And do you know what? I really don't know why I got that look last night - I think my outfit is pretty dam awesome!

The other thing I wanted to share was about my leotards. I do live wearing a leotard. It makes going to the ladies a little tricky but I always feel so confident and sexy when I put one on. I have two; this black one and a purple one.

Skirt - Asos
Leotard - You Go Girl Dancewear - mine's a 3x but they go up to 5x
Shoes - Rubi

I ♥ BOOKS - Bill Bryson

I got my English teacher nerd on this week.  I read Bill Bryson's Shakespeare

Bill Bryson can make some of the most boring and most technical stuff on this planet understandable, so I was looking forward to reading his biography.  It was pretty cool!

Apparently so much of what I know about Shakespeare really is just stuff that people have made up or surmised. I loved when Bryson admitted that the reason why is book was 'so slender' was because the aim was to 'see how much of Shakespeare we can know, really know' (2009, p.21).

We have a few other of his books, I like his language studies, and C likes his science and travel stuff.

With holidays coming up, I'll have more time to devote to reading - but I'll also want to sew and spend time chatting, maybe watching TV shows,,, and possibly some house work.

Plates and playlists

I made a decision a few years ago that for the rest of mylife I would only eat off crockery that I liked - life's too short for fuglyplates.

I tried buying some off Target last week and looky whatarrived!  Beautiful!

I also spent some time this afternoon music clip hoppingaround YouTube. It's one of my favourite things to do - I used to do it on MySpaceand iTunes. My searches included Solange, Haim, Bats for Lashes, Sia andBastille.  I found a few others of coursein my browsing.

Aussie Curves - Yellow

Leading up to the holidays means lots of things to do. In fact I have a pile of marking beside me that I really need to do,,, after I do this post...

So I actually forgot to take a photo of my yellow outfit. I had to recreate it.

I don't wear yellow much - partly because it makes me look ill in most shades but mainly because our school has two sports houses and the other team's colour is yellow.

So when I turn up to a school 'sporting' some yellow, my students were a little on the shocked side. There where cries of 'traitor', gaped mouths, fainting.

I kid.

Or do I?

Let's just say I won't be doing it again for a while :)

Pants -Autograph
Cami - Target
Top - Target (years old)
Necklace - eBay
Shoes - I forgot to put them on!

Who's ready for Easter Holidays?

Today I crocheted up some eggs to give to my secret Easter bunny receivee. The pattern came from greedyforcolour.blogspot.com.au just incase you wanted to know :)

I've had some bunnies and eggs out on my TV unit for ages.

Only four more days left of term. I'm ready to sleep in!

On the fringe

So I did it. I grabbed my scissors and got stuck in.

As soon as I heard that satisfying snip of hair between scissors I knew I had done the right thing.

I had been admiring side fringes for a little while and thought I would give it a go.

But 4 hours later I was still touching my fringe trying to get it to sit right. I'm sure an expert would have told me that it takes a little while to perfect it but I was fed up.

So I've just snipped out my old faithful blunt fringe.

Seriously, why did I decide to grow out my fringe? Admittedly this fringe isn't as thick as my old one but it still feels and looks nice.

Sunday Pretties

Colored hair - thinking about cutting in a fringe again.

Caught up of Grimm, started watching Beauty and the Best, printed out stuff for work, washed towels, got some crochet done, bought new plates from Target online, hugged by a cat.

Don't you love the pencil case? It's from Typo and it holds my crochet hooks and stuff.

Yarn about yarn

There is a great eBay store that is selling off yarns - I bought up on acrylic 8 ply of course.

I really don't know what I'll use them in but at least I will have options.

I have just finished my crochet bag. I think I want to tweak the pattern and make another. Actually I want to make a few small things this year as well as finish my zigzag blanket.

I like to start a new blanket each year but I haven't decided what to do yet :) so many options.

The Pretties

Had a nice morning. Cleaning, painting, breakfast, a bit of school work, chatting on the phone with Mum and Dad. Now I might watch some TV and crochet.

I ♥ BOOKS - Phryne Fisher

This episode of I ♥ BOOKS is brought to you buy my love of murder mystery series which are aired mostly on the ABC.

I love them. Midsommer, Gill Mayo,,, Phryne Fisher.

But I don't tend to watch TV. I normally get a hold of the hold entire series (on DVD right?) and try in watch it all in one sitting.  There's a meme about that, I'll go find it...

This is totally true.

So that's what I did with Phryne Fisher's Murder Mysteries. I love it.  Even more so when I ventured into civilization over the Christmas holidays and bought the first book in the series.  When I went to Brisvegas the other week I bought the next 5.  Note though, that book stores are notorious for not having the books available that you actually need - so I did have to go searching.

I have only read the first 3 in the series so far. I'm keeping the others for later.

Basically:
Phryne Fisher arrives in Australia, she gets a little bored and gets involved with all sorts of adventures which takes her interest so she begins her own private investigator practice.  It's set in the 1920s, she's a bit of flapper and a vixen. I also find her a little conceited.

What do I love?
I love the characters, the times, the clothing descriptions, the quaint dialect, the stories are interesting and can be pretty gritty.

I'm not one of those people that compares the novel to the movie but I do like that for the most part the stories are basically the same - even sometimes down to the costumes.

What don't I love?
The plot is an intertwining of several things that are going on, too coincidentally at times and you can often tell what is going to happen in the end pretty early on - possibly not helped by the fact that I have seen the TV shows. Errors in editing - small but enough to catch my attention - novels that I pay for should be perfect.

Sick day

My view today consists of my air con. It's blowing cold on my face and makes me feel better.

At least one cat loves me and feels sorry enough for me to stay with me.

A doctor once told me that when you are sick, eat what you want because it doesn't matter. I just ate a creme egg. It's not sitting well in my tummy. Perhaps the doctor should have said, 'Eat anything you want as long as you are prepared to taste it again.' I should stick to crackers.
